
Easy Scones
ingredients
- 525g plain flour
- 230ml semi skimmed milk
- 130g butter or margarine
- 90g caster sugar
- 4g baking powder
- few drops vanilla essence

method
1. Pre heat the oven to 200°C.
2. Sieve the flour and baking powder into a bowl.
3. Warm the milk and vanilla essence (in a pan or microwaved but do NOT boil) and put to one side.
4. Stir the caster sugar into the flour mix.
5. Dice the maragrine into small cubes and put into the flour bowl.
6. Using your fingertips rub the margarine into the flour until it resembles breadcrumbs.
7. Make a well in the centre add the milk mixture. Mix together and knead into a dough.
8. On a floured surface fold the dough and knead it until its formed and soft. Using a rolling pin roll it out to 2 cm thick.
9. Using a round cutter (6-7cm) cut the dough into individual circles. Re roll the dough and keep cuting circles until there is none left.
10. Place the scones onto a lined baking tray (with parcement) with space between them. Brush them with milk.
11. Bake for 12-14 minutes they should rise and have a nice colour to them.
12. Allow to cool on a cooling wrack.
